Resettlement Unit

A night shelter is not a home. We try to make every effort to support each person in addressing why they are homeless, and help them to avoid becoming homeless again in the future.
The Resettlement Unit is part of O'Hanlon House. Clients using O'Hanlon House's emergency accommodation can self-refer to the Resettlement Unit.
Our work includes:
- Assessing residents' housing and other needs.
- Helping residents tackle problems that have led to homelessness.
- Assisting residents in finding suitable accommodation.
- Providing welfare rights advice.
- Encouraging residents to become involved in meaningful pursuits such as leisure activities, training and employment.
- Follow-up support for clients who have been resettled.
- Link Working, in which 'cluster groups' of staff carry out in-depth work with individual residents who have been allocated to them.
- An on-site Resettlement Unit for 21 people (aged 26+) who feel they could benefit from in-depth support. Access to the Unit is by self-referral, supported by our Link Workers.
