Case study: Cadbury Schweppes

Volunteers on the gardening project

Julian Housing's gardening project has been running since 2005. Through the project, Julian Housing residents are invited to volunteer to maintain the gardens and buildings they use during their stay. Volunteers say the project has gives them a sense of pride and helps build their self-esteem. Funding for the project came from Streetsmart, a local fundraising initiative.

In August 2005, a group of 50 staff from Cadbury Schweppes volunteered to work alongside the gardening team, clearing two large, overgrown gardens and repainting hallways in two houses. The day was a huge success and everyone felt an enormous sense of achievement. The day's events were covered by Fox FM and BBC Radio Oxford.
