“We provide a base from which homeless people can move into independent accommodation and successfully integrate into the community. We encourage residents to join in with Training, Education & Activities programmes, attend meetings and make suggestions.”
Project Worker
O'Hanlon House provides direct access, Emergency Accommodation and resettlement programmes for up to 56 homeless people aged 25 and over. During the day, up to 100 people may be using our Day Services, which are available by referral. We also provide a separate Resettlement Floor by referral.
Resettlement Team
We are committed to assisting homeless people towards greater independence. We offer structured, personalised resettlement services for every O'Hanlon House client. We also provide a separate Resettlement Floor for clients who are motivated towards change. We emphasise client involvement and empowerment to enable people to make positive changes in their lives.
Our work includes:
- Immediate assessment of housing and other needs for all new arrivals.
- Allocation of clients within three days to a Resettlement Worker, who will draw up a detailed support plan and provide weekly support meetings.
- Helping clients tackle issues that have led to homelessness.
- Assisting clients in finding suitable accommodation.
- Providing welfare rights advice.
- Our Training, Education & Activities Coordinator encourages residents to become involved in meaningful pursuits, ranging from soft engagement and motivational activities to support back into full time employment.
- We work in partnership with health, housing, addiction, legal and other agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for homeless people.
- We provide thorough handovers to new housing providers and offer follow-up support as appropriate.
- We offer crisis intervention in cases where problems with new tenancies occur.
